FM Credentials

Facility Management Professional (FMP)

Earning the FMP

To earn the FMP, there are four required courses to complete. There is no exam, as is required to earn the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential, and there is no up-front application. Once you’ve completed the required courses, simply submit the FMP application online. 

All courses are available online as well as at instructor-led classroom settings. FMP candidates may customize their training by taking instructor led-courses, online courses or a combination of the two.

 The FMP and your Future

The FMP is designed to bring you one step closer to achieving the CFM credential, the most respected designation in facility management. Designed to hasten the progression from novice to specialist, the FMP is an ideal catalyst to early candidacy for the CFM. Individuals who achieve the FMP can obtain the CFM designation with a reduced amount of FM work experience.

  1. IFMA Spring and Fall Symposium. The fall symposium will be held on October 11-14 in Dallas, TX (prior to World Workplace).

How long does it take to achieve the FMP designation?

If you decide to take the courses in person, the average time to get the designation is about 1 year.You are required to finish the 4 modules within 12 months.

If you decide to take the courses on line, it could be less than year. It's really up to you and your pace you set for yourself.

Do I need to do any maintenance or upkeep on the designation?

No. This program only requires the 4 areas to be taken.
